Logo RealRickRealRick 4 virtual guitar instrument brings the incomparable Rickenbacker Guitar sound to your studio, 6-string and 12-string!

RealRick 4 virtual instrument captures the unmistakable sound of a legendary Rickenbacker® 360 electric guitar, which became permanently intertwined with the sound of The Beatles.

RealRick 4 is a sample-based virtual instrument with an innovative approach to guitar sound modeling and guitar techniques emulated on a standard MIDI keyboard.

RealRick Screen

RealRick provides incredible playability based on the unique performance modes and easy-to-use keyboard layout as well as the advanced key/pedal/velocity switch system allowing a keyboardist to perform guitar parts with a whole new level of realistic expression. RealRick covers practically all sounds, articulations, and techniques a professional guitarist can produce on his instrument, including mute, bridge mute, harmonics, pinch harmonics, unison bend, strumming, picking, chord chopping, scrapes, and much more...

RealRick 360The Rickenbacker 360 is a semi-acoustic electric guitar. It features stereo or mono output. Beside the 6-string, also the 12-string version was sampled.

24-bit 96kHz high quality dry samples recorded directly from pick-ups let you easily create any desired guitar sound using your favorite amplifier simulator.

In the early 1960s Rickenbacker® history became forever wedded to one of the biggest music upheavals of the 20th century: the invasion of the mop-top Beatles from Liverpool, England. The Beatles created unprecedented, international interest in Rickenbackers.

John Lennon would own at least four models, George Harrison's double-bound 360/12 (the second one made by the company) defined a new tone at the other end of the audio spectrum. Its ringing sound embellished "You Can't Do That", "Eight Days a Week", "A Hard Day's Night", "Ticket To Ride" to name just a few.

Jim McGuinn made the bell-like quality of its tone the foundation of the Byrds' early style. The Who's Peter Townshend, Creedence Clearwater Revival's John Fogerty, Steppenwolf's John Kay, and many other well-known 1960s guitarists became faithful Rickenbacker® users. Groups like Oasis, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, U2, and other of today's top acts include Rickenbacker® guitars in their musical arsenal. Rickenbacker® is the principal guitar of artists such as R.E.M.'s Peter Buck and Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace, and many others.

RealRick innovations

  • Multi-channel layering technology, incorporating a custom library of specially recorded samples taken from every fret of all 6 strings of a real guitar.
  • The unique Floating Fret Position technology, which imitates change of fret position of a guitarist's hand on the neck. This gives you the possibility of playing on up to 140 guitar frets using just 46 keys of a standard keyboard!
  • Sound Humanize technology allowing to wholly remove 'machine gun' effect on note repetition (tremolo, strumming, etc…).
  • Our original Guitar Touch technology letting you easily imitate basic guitar techniques (strumming, plucking, sliding, bending, muting, etc..), using standard MIDI keyboard and MIDI controllers, such as Pitch Bender, Modulation Wheel, Sustain Pedal, and Aftertouch.
  • Guitar Rhythm Pattern technology providing powerful Pattern Manager completed with huge MusicLab Guitar Pattern Library for easily creating guitar accompaniment tracks. All you have to do is to find the appropriate rhythm pattern(s) in the Pattern Manager tree view, copy it to the needed number of measures, start your sequencer and use MIDI keyboard to play chord changes, or alternatively add chords to a MIDI track via sequencer's editor.
  • The unique Struminator technology letting you use alternative MIDI controller (standard Guitar Hero game controller by Activision Inc.) for creating authentic guitar accompaniment parts with ease and fun.

These technologies allow to closely emulate live guitar sound and performance, letting you create guitar parts with a whole new level of realistic expression.

  • New Song mode added, a perfect songwriting tool, letting you insert chord changes and patterns for the song directly into the built-in Song Track

  • Smart Chord Selector, allowing to instantly insert chords into the Song Track

  • Powerful Style Filter, letting you automatically find suitable patterns in Pattern Library by musical criteria: tempo range, meter, playing technique, and rhythm feel

  • Export MIDI file from Song mode

  • Humanize engine with 9 parameters added

  • MIDI output mode for Pro Tools/AAX added

  • Double Tracking configuration and patch letting you easily simulate ‘double-tracked’ guitar part with the single MIDI input (to use this feature you must run RealStrat multi output version, ReaStrat (2 mono) or RealStrat (2 stereo) plugin, depending on mono or stereo amps/FXs you are going to use. These plugins provide 2 outs in your DAW’s mixer. In a DAW’s mixer pan each output being used, then add the amps/FXs of your choice on each channel)

  • Harmonics/Pinch Harmonics on black Add-on keys added in Bass&Pick mode

  • Slow Strum time slider added in Timing panel

  • FretNoise automatic for repetitive notes improved

Conclusion / exerpt

RalRick certainly conjures up the spirit of the '60s,  the Beatles, the Byrds and American surf pop, not forgetting the myriad Britpop bands and other purveyors of jangly guitar-based music.
As such it's a very welcome addition to the "Real Family".

...After all, Trentemøller, the well-known electro musician, proved in his interview that his epic guitar riffs where not recorded with a real guitar, since he claims that he is not a good enough guitar player to achieve such a sound. He simply drove some guitar sample libraries through real guitar amps. And even I, a skilled guitar player, thought that was a real guitar, actually one of the best live guitars takes I’ve ever heard!

This virtual instrument / sample library is definitively a good tool – it’s up to you what can be done with it.

Tolles Produkt!
